Gabe Newell once again visited the hl2fallout forums and announced that the much anticipated Half Life 2 will start pre-loading into Steam on the 19th of August (yesterday). This comes as owners of Counter Strike: Condition Zero and ATI hl2 coupons are beta testing the source engine under Counter Strike.
Valve is obviously gearing up for a near future release, with new videos being released to heighten interest as the date nears.
The official trailer was released last Monday, and today, 2 new videos in Bink format are available from gamespot.
Anticipation mounts for the release.....let us hope that anticipation after all, is not everything...

Valve's Erik Johnson has posted on the shacknews.com gaming forums that pre-loading of Half Life 2 to Steam will be pushed back to Monday:
We're going to push the start of the preload back until this coming Monday. The main reason was to get out the release (that just happened) to the CS: Source Beta.
