World Cyber Games Draw to a Close - 11.10.04

World Cyber Games logoThe worlds largest gaming competition finished today, with over $400,000 in prizes being awarded to the winners.

Hosted in San Franscisco this year, the World Cyber Games Grand Final was played out by gamers of all nationalities on eight top gaming titles - 6 for the PC and 2 for consoles:
  • Counter-Strike: Condition Zero - (U.S.A)
  • FIFA Soccer 2004 - (Korea)
  • Need For Speed Underground - (Germany)
  • StarCraft: Brood War - (Korea)
  • Unreal Tournament 2004 - (Netherlands)
  • WarCraft III: Frozen Throne - (Netherlands)
  • Halo - (U.S.A)
  • Project Gotham Racing 2 - (Netherlands)
()=nationality of the Gold medalists

The U.S. Counter-Strike winners, members of a gaming clan called Team3D, in addition to winning $50,000 gained worldwide exposure when the Associated Press picked up the story about their win and syndicated it out to top Web sites including Yahoo! News. The story of their win also made a front page link on MSNBC news.
