TheBlacksmith alerted us to a widespread problem users were having with their Steam accounts:I can't log in, period. It says can't connect to the steam service when I try to log in with the account I've been using for months.
The Steampowered.com forums were swamped with complaints from gamers, but Valve have posted an announcement that the problem should be solved now:Yes as is pretty clear from what you've read or from the fact you couldn't get Steam started, something was not quite right today. Some accounts were able to log in right, and some could not.
Please be assured that if you had problems, it was only temporary and your accounts have not been lost or damaged or otherwise compromised.
