Gamespot got the first look at End of Ages, the fifth and final installment in the classic MYST series of games, which will be unveiled at next month's E3 Expo and is due for release later this year. They also have a selection of screenshots and concept art, and a video interview with Cyan Worlds CEO Rand Miller:
Myst 5 is probably the most different from the original Myst, and the most the same as the original Myst.
We've done things that strayed enormously from the original Myst, real-time 3D, and with things that you carry with you, and with the way we portray the characters.
But the essence of it, the idea that at the beginning you meet characters and thoughout the game you're trying to judge them, you're trying to decide which way to go; the idea that there's a hub that I branch off from, so many of those gameplay elements we've stuck with, the things we didn't want to mess with were the things that I think people had, at least in a play environment, in that adventure environment, had come to love.
