According to an article on engadget, Sony claims that they have managed to see off over half a million PSPs in North America in the first 48 hours of its release.They did expect to unload 1 million however, earlier predictions were that they only sold just over 570,000 in the first week.
Last week P.J. McNealy estimated that Sony moved only 575,000 units in the PSP’s first week—though it’s entirely possibly that they sold 500,000 PSP Value Packs in those initial 48 hours and then only another 75,000 over the course of the next five days
