According to 1up.com, the top ten Girlfriend-Friendly Games include Ms. Pac-Man, Animal Crossing, Katamari Damacy, Dance Dance Revolution and The Sims.I don't know how accurate this list is apart from The Sims, I have found more girls play the likes of Counter Strike: Source, Far Cry and Doom 3.
The old cliche of girls reaching for Mario and Ms Pac-man while guys go for the Action/First Person Shooters is kind of a dead myth. I think 1up seriously need to rethink their list if they don't want to offend any serious gamers.
They have certainly struck a chord with Game Girl Advance.
