Half Life 2: Aftermath set for September release? - 24.5.05

Half Life 2After separating itself from VU Games, Valve has left itself without the means for retail distribution of its upcoming titles. Come August 31st, all work VU have with Valve and Valve games will cease and unless they have another publisher in between, the only way to purchase a Valve game will be through Steam's content delivery system, leaving you without a physical copy of the game.

Early reports are coming in that suggest however, Valve may still have the much anticipated Half Life 2 Expansion Aftermath ready for distribution come September.

Although it isn't known who will publish the Aftermath expansion yet, we know it certainly won't be VU Games who will stop working with Valve games as of August 31st this year, as part of a legal settlement. Activision's name has been mooted to fill this void, but this is only because they published Day of Defeat, not because of any specific facts. Aftermath in September, online and in-stores, is now a given however.. which is good news for all.
