In a recent interview with Joystick, Ballmer discusses predictions of the next Xbox success in the U.S., admits certain defeat in Japan to Sony with a question mark over Europe. He also talks about Sony's marketing campaign and actually pays tribute to their ingenuity.
How are you going to define success for the Xbox 360?
Well, I mean in the simplest of ways. Ill start very simple. If Peter Moore (who runs our marketing) was here, hed tell you about brand and positioning and image. I just want to sell more consoles than anybody else in the next generation. And in the simplest of ways, you know, the number of units we sell is really important to me.
