According to Japanese website Impress PC Watch, Sony have told their business partners that the Playstation 3 will cost under 40,000 yen at launch, starting speculation that the new console will have the same price as its two predecessors when they launched.The Playstation and Playstation 2 launched at a price of 39,800 yen (€293, £202, $369); if true this report contradicts the much higher launch price of under 50,000 yen (€370, £255, $465) recently reported:
