Limited-edition XBox 360 fascias given out at the XBox 360 launch and E3 have ended up on eBay, with some fetching over £200:
The Xbox 360 will undoubtedly be the most impressive game console in the world. It was announced recently that the console will be available for Christmas 2005. But this faceplate will never be sold in a retail store. A limited number of celebrities, press, and PR people were invited to a pre-E3 Microsoft press conference announcing the system. The Killers and The Chemical Brothers preformed and at the end of the party, after the impressive presentation, Microsoft handed out exclusive, limited edition Xbox 360 faceplates to all the attendees. Only 5000 of these units were made worldwide, and each is numbered on the packaging.
