The gloves have come off early as the competition between Sony and Microsoft for the next-gen games console market begins. In an interview with Reuters, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kazuo Hirai branded the XBox 360 a combination of todays technology that wasn't future-proofed, referred to it as the XBox 1.5 and said having a goal of being first to market, as Microsoft have done, was like "missing the forest for the trees".
Hirai also said the Playstation 3 would be packed with future technology, hinting that because of this, consumers would be willing to pay a higher price for it, perhaps lending some more weight to the rumour yesterday that the PS3 would cost in or around $465.
