According to an article on VideoBusiness.com, Microsoft is expected to announce this week that HD (high-density) DVD will be a non-exclusive component of the XBox 360.Toshiba also announced an increase in storage capacity for the HD DVD, bringing it up to 45 GB total storage for a single-sided triple-layer disc, and a double-sided "hybrid" was also announced that will be able to store 60 GB high-definition on one dual-layer side and 8.5 GB standard definition on the other.
This will puncture the tires of the PlayStation 3 slightly; Sony have gone with the rival Blu-ray format for the PS3, which has a capacity of 50 GB for a dual-layer disc.
