The Guardian's Gamesblog recently visited Lionhead Studios, and has a great feature posted up about Black & White 2 and the overall series.Among lots of other interesting details, Lionhead chief Peter Molyneux reveals that there will be five installments to the series, each game following the progression of the relationship between the citizens in the game and the god, represented by the player.
He explained that in Black & White 1, the villagers had no previous experiences of gods but in the second installment they will be used to the concept and will have come to expect certain things from them. Molyneux gives the hint that eventually Black & White will end up in the present time, and gradually the players power as a god will diminish:
Black & White will end up in the modern day, in today’s world. And I would say, to give you a hint, probably B&W2, maybe B&W3, we’re getting to the top of the curve in terms of the god’s power. Then it goes down the other side, because you as a god get less powerful. Then it’s more about proving yourself, than just being this omnipotent ‘I can do anything’ god.
