Mozilla Firefox is to be embedded into a future version of the Second Life virtual world game according to a new announcement from creators Linden Lab.The plan is to allow regular 2D browsing in the game as well as the display of web pages on 3D objects, though the browser won't have all the functions of the regular Firefox, like Flash.
James Cook, the developer behind the project gave some examples of what Second Life players can expect:
I'm probably not going to be able to put web pages on your avatar's face or shirt. Unfortunately, avatars are 'special' -- the best I can promise is local traffic conditions on the windshield of your virtual car, or a weather satellite image on the ceiling of your house.
