Brandon Erickson started playing Star Wars Arcade at 8 AM on May 16th and didn't stop until 2.10 PM on the 18th, raising $800 for the Portland Schools Foundation.
Using a single quarter, he broke the previous 1984 record of 49 and 1/2 hours for the game, though he ran into problems 35 hours in when the controls started to malfunction:
35 hours after he started playing, however, the machine's controls started malfunctioning, forcing Erickson to quickly adaptor his playing style or kiss his record goodbye. Despite his fear of imminent doom, Erickson managed to survive for another 20 hours.
