Online gaming, the true addiction - 1.6.05

Online GamingWith all the chatter recently of violent games and the selling of violent/ or sexually explicit gaming to minors, I got to thinking of something interesting. I was wondering if the current rise in online gaming is having an impact on this generation's health.

Personally, I play roughly 6-7 hours of online gaming each week. Now that number itself is not exactly startling but there was a time when I would spend at least 4-5 hours per day completely engrossed in a reality I thought had some kind of relevance to my life. I was noticing a total lack of a decent sleeping pattern and found it harder and harder to put the mouse down.

While mine is not exactly a hardcore case, I have come to know lots of gamers over the years, some that spend literally upwards of 8 hours every single day in front of their monitors fighting wars, managing guilds, heading into battle. Perhaps it gives people a sense of purpose where before they had none.

Either way, more and more young people seem to be taking to MMORPG's and online FPS's with a warm embrace. For some it's a harmless and even healthy habit in which people with similar tastes and interests can get together for some recreation and fun however, in some cases the person does not know where to divide the line between where their life starts and online the online gaming World ends.

Please let us know what you think, do we play too much online gaming? Just when does a person need to draw the line?
