Hardly surprising, the success of the PSP movie format. With companies constantly climbing onboard this winning formula, it seems you PSP owners sure do like the idea of a portable flick.Gamesindustry.biz are reporting on the recent sales figures for PSP's UMD movies which are topping 100,000 according to Sony. Reuters, in quoting a Sony executive, say this figure does not even include copies of Spider-Man 2, which was shipped with many of the American PSP packages.
Sony are suggesting that their proprietary UMD format is broadening all the time, with Sony looking outside of the typical 18-25 year-old male gamer demographic into the realm of Cartoons, also they will be trying to better target women in the future.
New deals are being announced regularly - just this week we've seen Anchor Bay Entertainment pledge six releases, including horror and Manga titles, with the promise of more to come.
