It looks like round 3 for Eidos's upcoming 25 to Life. First it was a US senator, then a CNN talk-show host. Now it appears a charity is packing the latest punch from the other side of the ring in this enticing bout to knock the other guy's moral fiber out.The Taser Foundation, which was setup by the makers of the taser stun gun, has so far shelled out $650,000 to families of police officers killed in the line of duty. The charity are not happy with the title of the game and the fact that a similar taser gun is used by police.
Games such as this actually dehumanise police," Foundation director Gerry Anderson commented. "They trivialise the real danger and risks that police officers face every day.
25 to Life, still several months from release, has in recent weeks also been attacked by a US senator, and on a US talk show. Eidos commented: "Eidos believes that video games are a creative art form and we produce a wide range of content aimed at various age groups including games specifically targeted for the over-18 player. On the issue of who should be allowed to purchase our products, we have a very strict two tier rating system in the UK to send a clear signal to both customers and retailers as to the appropriate audience for each game."
