Former First Lady Hillary Clinton has issued a statement praising the ESRB for handing down an AO (Adults Only) rating to Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, saying she is "glad" the organisation have gotten to the bottom of the issue. She's never been a fan of Grand Theft Auto or Rockstar Games, and in the statement refers to them only as "the company" who "gamed the ratings system and enabled pornographic material to get into the hands of children."
She also puts pressure on "the company" to fulfil its pledge to pull the game off shelves, and suggests they allow parents to get a refund if they return the game:
So many parents already feel like they are fighting a battle against violence and sexually explicit material with their hands tied behind their backs. We need companies to be responsible and we need rating systems that work.
While I applaud the ESRB for its quick and thorough investigation, I urge the ESRB to redouble its efforts to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again and that games already reviewed do not have the same vulnerabilities.
