GTA: San Andreas under fire, again? - 8.7.05

GTAIt seems that violent games just can't catch a break lately. If it's not a politician lashing out, there's always somebody else to hold the baton. This time around, California assemblyman Leland Yee has hit out not only at violent games, but one title in particular, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The politician and child psychologist launched a verbal assault at the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), for "failing to appropriately rate" Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with an AO for Adults Only rating.

Yee then brought up the reported recent discovery of sex minigames hidden in the game's code that can be unlocked by a third-party mod. These hidden games have yet to be confirmed by Rockstar who as of yet have no comment on the matter.

"Once again, ESRB has failed our parents," Yee said in a statement. "Plain and simple, parents cannot trust the ESRB to rate games appropriately or the industry to look out for our children's best interests." The ESRB was created by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the preeminent game-industry lobby and organizers of the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
