Some very exciting news coming in from GamesIndustry.biz. According to an article, Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi has hinted that visitors to this year's Tokyo Games Show may get the chance to try out some playable Playstation 3 demos.Kutaragi dropped the hint while speaking at the Playstation Meeting in Tokyo last week where he said:
We hope to use the Tokyo Game Show as a chance for everyone to get to know, or possibly experience, what next-generation entertainment is all about.
Comical Kutaragi also introduced the lasted PS3 dev kit, which is codenamed 'Cytology'. The kit is around the same size as an average PC but this size will shrink considerably come December when Sony release their 'PS3 reference tool'.The Sony heavyweight also thrashed claims that there was a shortage of PS3 dev kits. So far only 450 have been shipped around the world, but Kutaragi explains that this is in no way due to a shortage:
We've been getting a lot of requests from developers since E3 that they want more development kits for the PS3 The demand for the kits has gone beyond what we can handle. We've been discussing what we can do about it
The company is expected to ship 200 dev kits in August with a further 300 due in September. That may pale in comparison to October, where the rate of production for Playstation 3 dev kits will increase to 3,000 units per month!PlayStation 3 may be playable at Tokyo Games Show
