Version 2.0 of the PSP's firmware will come pre-installed on the console when it hits Europe on 1 September, Sony have confirmed to Gamesindustry.bizEuropean customers will be able to use the official browser for the console straight out of the box, as well as other features like the ability to share photos wirelessly between two PSP's.
The version 2.0 firmware also includes a major update to the security of the console. On previous versions of the firmware, hackers had managed to bypass the security features and allow the running of unofficial programs, including emulators for the GameBoy and SNES. These have been disabled with version 2.0, but a recent explanation and video on PSPUpdates.com may prove that the version 2.0 security has already been breached.
