An interesting article over on PCWorld examines the rising cost of PC gaming, in terms of hardware costs. The article is titled "Would You Pay $600 for a Graphics Card?" and takes a look at the types of people who are willing to fork out such a ludicrous amount of cash for one peripheral of the PC, albeit a pretty important one. The article is certainly contrary to AnadTech's recent outlook that graphics cards are going down in price.
And if you're lucky enough to own a dual-card ready SLI motherboard, you can spend a cool $1200 to load up with two of these bad boys.
My first two cars cost less than $1200, total. NVidia's move irritated some of my tech-savvy friends, a few of whom seem to think that access to the fastest gear on the planet is an inalienable geek right.
Building a high-performance PC can be outrageously expensive. But does it have to be?
