EO: Are Microsoft headed in the right direction with Xbox Live, the Gamertag becoming a more detailed statistical profile that embodies the player and represents them online? DoesnÂt this make online gaming more competitive rather than less?
AM: I couldn't blame them because I, for one, really want to have e-sport on telly. When I was really into hardcore gaming, I couldn't go to bed before having checked one or two demos of Quake III the latest matches via live feed. It had the real potential to be a show in itself. But this does focus on the most hardcore. The real turning point will be providing something that's casual something that makes clear enough who is the best and why they're leading. Is it luck? Is it skill? Are the game rules at fault? The problem now is that in all multiplayer games, you don't see what your opponent does, while in soccer or chess, for example, you see everything. So that makes understanding from the spectator point even harder, because you have to compute two things that don't relate to each other. It is hard, but it's certainly going to be a huge market for entertainment, just like car racing. Everyone that owns a car wants to see good drivers, everybody that plays chess wants to see good players everybody will play games like Far Cry Instinct [laughs] you see my point.
