Capcom's Jun Takeuchi has given a new interview with Famitsu magazine, giving some more details on Resident Evil 5.
The main points are:
· The production is still in the early stages, and storyline details are still up in the air.
· The game is to include real physics; Takeuchi mentioned Epic's Unreal 3 as a possible provider.
· RE5 is to be a sequel to the main storyline threaded through the series, in contrast to the side-story diversion of part 4.
· The framerate is to be doubled from previous games in the series to 60fps.
· The gameplay won't be too linear; Takeuchi pointed to Half-Life 2 as a good example of this, but didn't say RE5 would take an identical approach.
Also revealed in the interview is the extraordinary amount of detail put into the recently-released RE5 trailer; the developers painstakingly created models for the muscles and teeth of the main character to achieve realistic facial expressions. Takeuchi declined to say whether or not the character is indeed Chris Redfield, the hero of the original Resident Evil.
