Ken Kutaragi/PS3More PS3 news coming in, a recent article on Sony's website confirmed a few key features, while remaining on the fence with others. The article reiterates Kutaragi's vision of a super-computer, of course the PS3 will be quite the capable games machine, but the article stresses certain 'PC' like features such as video and photo editing, which will be standard features on the next Playstation.

Also, more hints that the PS3 may indeed run a Linux or Mac OS, as the article states Sony is still yet undecided on the operating system.

The operating system has also yet to be clarified. The integrated Cell processor will be able to support a variety of operating systems (such as Linux or Apple's Tiger).

"Empowered by the Cell processor with super computer like performance, a new age of PLAYSTATION 3 is about to begin," declared Ken Kutaragi, President and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
The PS3 should serve not only as a games machine but as a computer with a multitude of possible applications. For example, photo and video editing are standard PC applications which the PS3 will feature, according to a recent interview which the PlayStation boss gave to Japanese PC magazine Impress PC Watch.

The games machine turned super computer
