After we reported yesterday that Dell will be using two graphics cards in their latest XPS gaming rig, PCMag has a review of the new gaming PC from Dell. This bad-boy is host to two Nvidia 7800 graphics cards, a 3.8-GHz P4 670 processor, 1Gb of ram and a whooping 1Tb (1,000Gb) of harddrive space.Of course, with a $5,000 price-tag, little-Johnny won't be juggling his SLI configuration anytime soon. Still though, it's always fun to see the bleeding-edge of technology that you can't afford.
The Dell XPS line is all about delivering ultrafast 3D performance to gamers. The Dell Dimension XPS 600 ($4,999 direct, as tested) is the company's follow up to the popular Editors' ChoiceÃwinning XPS Gen 5, and it doesn't disappoint.
The XPS 600 packs a serious gaming punch, with an obscene 1TB of hard drive space, a speedy 3.8-GHz P4 670 processor, and two top-of-the-line nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX graphics cards in an SLI configuration. (SLI combines the power of two graphics cards to produce blistering frame rates on many 3D games.) It also comes with the Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system and two standard TV tuners. Make no mistake, though, the rationale for getting this system is not to make music but to crush your enemies.
