Earlier in the week Future plc sent out a press release and image of an upcoming issue of their Xbox 360 World magazine, which had "Halo 3 - PS3 is dead" splashed across the cover.As you'd expect, speculation grew that it was only a matter of time before Microsoft made an official announcement on the existence of the game. But Joystiq have discovered the magazine cover was a good publicity spinner for Future plc, but of no real value to Halo fans at all.
As it turns out, the Halo 3 special doesn't actually contain any new information about the game at all, but instead consists of 6 pages of articles covering speculation from fans:
The cover image refers to a 6-page feature that focuses on fan speculation. Neither the magazine nor the DVD contains screens, video, or even artists’ renders. So no, it wasn’t a hoax—but we still feel cheated…
