Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that all of its worldwide games development studios are to be combined into one giant, global company, headed up by SCE Europe vice president Phil Harrison. Previously, studios in Japan, the U.S., South Korea and Europe worked at creating titles to match the tastes of the audience in each region, at the same time achieving worldwide hit games. The new studio, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS), will aim to accelerate the production of hits on a global level:
As SCE enters its second decade, we need to reinforce our games development power and create new entertainment experiences that will bring out the best of the technology in platforms such as PSP, PLAYSTATION 3, and beyond," said Ken Kutaragi, President and group CEO, SCEI.
