Valve have been teasing Day of Defeat fans for the best part of a year over when the Source conversion of the WWII shooter would see a release. But things are looking up after last Friday's Steam Update included the most specific date from the company so far.Valve say they aren't quite ready to announce an exact date, but that they are "confident that it will happen in September".
They went on to say there will be a period of one week (at minimum) before the release that gamers will be able to pre-order the game and pre-load it so they can begin playing instantly it is released.
The game will be available as a stand-alone purchase through Steam, or as part of the Counter-Strike: Source retail box. Gamers who bought the Silver or Gold Half-Life 2 packages will also be able to play automatically.
As an extra sweetener, Valve included two new player models in the update, which can be viewed on the Steam Website.
