Pac-Man The Movie!? - 29.12.05

Pac-Man The MovieKotaku has uncovered an interview with the CEO of Crystal Sky, an independent film company in Hollywood. He reveals his company are working away on three movies based on classic gaming franchises - Tekken, Castlevania and, of all things, Pac-Man.

The movie is said to be in the early stages of development and will "appeal" to a broad audience. The mind boggles at what they plan to do for a storyline, or actors... or scenes for that matter. Hal Haberman and Gil Kenan are in "final stages of polishing the screenplay" according to the official website, but beyond that there are no other details.

While we wait for more news on this undoubted disaster in the making, Kotaku has some speculation on how the plot for a Pac-Man movie might work:

I mean, is it going to be some high-dollar, heavy special effect production with people shaped to look like Pac-Man and the ghosts? Or do you think they will go the concept route? You know something like: In a dying world Johnny “Pac-Man” Namco is humanties only chance. The jaunty-hat wearing young Namco must pilot his yellow ship through a haunted maze of burn-out cities on the hunt for power pellets and bits of tantalizing fruit in hopes of staving off death and making the world once more livable for his young bride.
