As some North American shoppers scramble to get their hands on any Xbox 360 console available, others are turning to Sony’s PSP for their gaming action. So much so in fact, Sony predicted back in October it would double its base by the end of the year, selling another 2.5 to 3 million units.
A spokesperson for Sony recently told Reuters it was on track to hit that mark. As of November, the company had sold more than 3 million units in North America. The sales figures come on the heels of the 360’s November North American release.
Those wanting to buy the Microsoft console have faced shortages and glitches in their effort to pick up the game. Holiday shoppers, in a lot of cases, are turning to other gaming units instead to put something under the tree.
Make no mistake the Xbox 360 is still a popular purchase. Last weekend stores across America announced new shipments of the console, having 14 units or less in some cases. Shoppers lined up by the dozens, braving cold and hours of waiting, to have a chance to buy the limited supply.
