Not everyone is in love with Sony's guerrilla marketing campaign for its PlayStation Portable consoles. In fact, one New York City Councilman wants them removed and thinks Sony should pay $20,000 toward the city's anti-graffiti campaign.
According to UPI, Queens Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. said the ads, which use no words, but depict cartoon characters playing with their PSPs, amount to nothing more than graffiti.
Sony says the ads are legitimate, despite the councilman's concerns. They all appear on buildings where public advertising is allowed by law.
Sony has been using the guerrilla marketing campaign in cities such as New York, Miami and San Francisco to draw new players to its hand-held consoles.
