According to GameShout, Direct TV and Microsoft have announced their intentions to team up. Direct TV will soon make its digital television available on the Xbox 360 and also PCs that run Windows.
This partnership will give personal computers the ability to become DVRs, playing and recording Direct TV. The move for the 360 makes it a powerhouse for entertainment, provided customers can actually get their hands on a console. The 360 will now include support for the iPod, HDTV and Direct TV capabilities in addition to its primary function, which is playing video games - maybe.
As the partnership was announced, shortages of Xbox 360s still plagued the gaming system's release. Microsoft has added on a third manufacturer to help with filling orders - Celestica has joined the mix along with Wistron and Flextronics. During CES 2006, Microsoft announced that up to 5.5 million units would be on the market by July.
With Direct TV, gaming and iPod capabilities, not to mention is nifty doubling as a DVD player, the only question that remains for the Xbox 360 is when developers will be able to get it to do dishes?
