I finally broke down and bought the new EQII expansion, Kingdom of Sky, this evening and checked it out.
Although I haven’t had much of a chance to play, I can share my first impressions. The appearance is incredible. I was able to check out one island and a do a bit of a dungeon crawl before having to throw in the towel for the night. I can’t even begin to describe the graphics beyond saying breathtaking.
After that, my biggest complaint is the LAG. It was so bad, it reminded me of the old days of EQI when people had to run out and buy new computers just to be able to move in the Bazaar. OK, it wasn’t quite that bad, but EQ players out there will get the drift.
As it’s been with all of EQII so far, the game kind of spoon-feeds you along a bit. I had only just logged in, moved through one zone and received my first achievement point. Too easy.
But, on the upside, that single point was enough to land my mystic her spirit pet, which is a cool throw back to the old EQ.
Hoping to play some more this weekend and be able to give a more detailed look at the expansion.
If you’ve checked out the Kingdom of Sky expansion, let us know what you think by heading to the forums. We’d love to hear what you think is good about it, what sucks and what improvements you’d implement if you ran Norrath.
