Tokyo-based GaiaX is going live with a new online game site, Mupoh, on March 3. Pre-opening activities started on Feb. 14.
It looks like the free game site will initially cater to the Japanese market, but there are plans to expand services to the rest of Asia, North America and Europe. Play will be free, but there will be “additional items” for sale.
Titles set for release by GaiaX this year include KongKong Online, Twinkle and Stone Age 2. The site can be accessed once it’s up by clicking here.
At mupoh, users need only register their ID once in order to enjoy all the online games provided, thus eliminating the trouble of having to re-register for each new game. Registration on mupoh starts from 2:00 PM on February 14 (Tuesday), the pre-opening. Players only pay for the items they want to buy; there is no charge for basic play. The community section in mupoh only has minimal functions such as profile pages and forums, because the priority is on communication within the games. Nevertheless, our know-how in the construction of online communities has enabled us to make it a user-friendly and enjoyable section.
