As the Big 3 square off in the battle of the next-gen consoles, it’s looking more and more like the last two contenders in the fight for the best machine won’t enter the ring until sometime around the holidays.
Sony has said all along its PS3 would hit stores this Spring, but with big game retailers like Game Stop selling advanced orders on game titles with a release date of Oct. 1, 2006, this doesn’t seem likely.
Now, Nintendo’s much-anticipated release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has been pushed back to Nov. 1, 2006, according to a report on Nintendo Revolution. It looks as if Nintendo is sand-bagging its big release titles to go along with the debut of its console.
If so, the 2006 holiday season could really shape up to be interesting. Who knows, maybe Microsoft will even have some Xbox 360s on store shelves in North America by then?
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has been in development now for what seems like forever, and now it appears that we will have to wait even longer. Since the game’s delay before Christmas, Nintendo has not commented officially as to when the game would officially be released, simply saying sometime in 2006. A report we received recently from TVG has brought it to our attention that Best Buy has announced all pre-orders of the game that it will not ship until November. This goes along with recent reports stating that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess would be pushed to the Revolution as either an exclusive launch title, or a GameCube game with the added functionality of the Revolution Free Hand Controller support for when you played it on the Revolution. Does this mean it could be the killer app for the Revolution launch?”
