As the Resident Evil franchise celebrates its 10th anniversary, Capcom announced the release of the original title for the Nintendo DS.
The handheld adaptation of the first game, Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, retails for about $35 USD. It includes some nifty features that take advantage of the portable platform’s abilities.
Resident Evil is the game that defined the survival horror genre. Its popularity has lead to total sales of more than 27 million units series-wide since the title’s inception a decade ago. In the game, players get to battle monsters around every corner as they unravel a gruesome mystery.
Players can relive the beginning of the Resident Evil saga in a newly revamped “rebirth mode.” Whereas the original game focused more on puzzle solving, this new version will place a heavy emphasis on action with more enemies and ammo as well as improved visuals for intense enemy confrontations. Also, nearly half the puzzles have been freshly upgraded providing new challenges for fans. In addition, the rebirth mode includes enhanced controls and will incorporate the DS system’s unique feature set, utilizing the touch screen and microphone functions.
