The marriage of movies and video games is expected to continue in bliss with this year’s release of Eragon for both gamers and cinema nuts. The fantasy world created by Christopher Paolini will hit the big screen and the little one later this year thanks to a deal with Vivendi-Universal Games and 20th Century Fox films.
Eragon the game is due out for PCs, consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PS2, and handhelds in November. The film will make its debut right before Christmas time.
The story follows a young farm boy as he breaks from his humble roots to become a legendary dragon rider. The fate of his empire lies in his hands.
The tale is well-loved the world over and looks like it’s more than strong enough to support both a movie and some serious video game action. In the film, veteran actors such as Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich have been cast to help bring the tale to life.
