As mega games companies like Atari struggle to keep the bottom line out of the red, Sega is in a buying mode. The company just bought Secret Level Inc. for $15 million.
According to Reuters, the purchase is meant to help Sega focus more on the American and European markets. Secret Level is responsible for games such as “America’s Army,” “Karaoke Revolution” and more.
The addition of this development powerhouse further moves Sega toward its goal of becoming a leading next-generation publisher," Naoya Tsurumi, head of Sega's American and European operations, said in a statement.

Sega’s desire to become the leading next-gen publisher is great for gamers looking for interesting titles, but it’s not necessarily good for those wanting to see the company make another foray into console creation. Sega fans are in the process of gathering names on a petition to present to the company requesting it consider creating a next, next-gen game console.
The petition’s goal is in the thousands, but at last check it was falling far short. To help boost the numbers, click here.
