Gamers looking for a deal on Atari titles are in luck. The company has announced its intentions to cut the price on current gen titles to $19.99 and also has made some big announcements for PC-based games, too.
This follows the predicted trend as next-gen consoles begin to make their way to market. Although months remain before the PS3 and Wii hit stores, game companies are looking to lessen their inventories to make way for the new releases.
The discount pricing on Atari titles will go into effect on June 1 at most retailers in North America. Consoles affected include the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and GBA.
PC gamers will also see titles drop to $19.99 for everything but Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach. PC games will also be made available for direct download on Valve and Direct2Drive at the $19.99 rate.
Atari is committed to providing great gaming experiences to the largest possible audience," said Atari, Inc. Chief Executive Officer Bruno Bonnell. "With our GamersFirst programme, Atari is taking another step forward to make our unique catalogue of games more accessible to everyone. We are proud to announce our unique GamersFirst $19.99 programme and reaffirm our commitment to consumers."
