The PlayStation 3 might be coming at a high price, but it appears as if gamers will get a little bonus with the buy in the form of the PlayStation Network. Hexus is reporting that use of the service, meant to rival Xbox Live, will be free.
The console itself will launch officially in North America on Nov. 17. It will make its way to other regions, such as Europe, within day. The network will allow gamers not only to play against each other, but also download games, get extra content and possibly even download movies and music.
The free price tag, of course, will not extend to downloads and MMO subscriptions, but if this is to be believed, there won’t be a monthly charge to be on the network.
A Sony Computer Entertainment America PR Manager had this to say: "Please note that online gaming will be free right out of the box."
