While it seems the PlayStation 3 launch titles might not pack the full power of the next-gen console, about 15 titles are anticipated for launch.
Ferrago is reporting that Sony’s Kaz Hirai is the one making the number claim.
Set to make its debut on Nov. 17, the highly anticipated console should have launch support from game makers such as EA, Activision and Ubisoft.
The idea for the light launch as far as titles are concerned came from Sega’s Simon Jeffrey. He’s stated that many developers haven’t received the correct information to take full advantage of the console’s power. THQ has also told Sony is can’t make The Sopranos for the system due to a lack of final hardware specs and other issues.
Whether it launches with 15 titles or 50, if Sony manages to make the PS3 stable and solid, it’s likely the console will greatly appreciated by gamers who are experiencing lots of troubles with their Xbox 360s. It seems that console’s troubles continue with lock ups on a number of titles, compatibility woes and system failures, as well. (My system now is included in the fatalities.)
