The players have spoken and Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach developers have responded. The MMORPG will soon have its very own solo zone, The Harbor. Another new feature is a reduction in the necessary experience to level.
From the D&D site:
Turbine has listened to this feedback and is pleased to announce the upcoming availability of solo-friendly content. An all new solo setting is being introduced to help new DDO players navigate through the early game content, allowing them the time and space to learn about their characters, try strategies and face monsters for the first time on their own. Players will now have the option to play at their own pace as a solo-player in the Harbor.
Sounds an awful lot like the newbie tutorial zone in EverQuest II, but more than that, a zone? That’s it?
One thing for certain in the world of MMORPGs, looking for a group can be hard. There are days when finding a group is darn near impossible. It’s a dog-eat-dog kind of world where there’s either feast or famine on the group front.
This is where games like World of Warcraft and even EverQuest shine. For the most part, these titles have struck a balance between the different styles of play. There needs to be a happy medium between solo, group and raid experiences or interest wanes and along with it goes subscriptions.
Bravo to Turbine for actually listening to players, but again, only a zone?
