Proving it’s not just blowing hot air, Microsoft has added more than a handful of titles to its backward compatibility list for the Xbox 360.

According to the Xbox site, games such as Doom 3, LEGO Star Wars and Amped 2 have made their way to the list and more will follow.

Microsoft officials had earlier been quoted as saying they weren’t all that keen on backward compatibility any longer. Peter Moore, however, backpedaled and restated the company’s commitment to making old titles work on the new console.

With the impending releases of the PS3 and Wii, the backward compatibility issue and actually making titles work is a big selling point for former Xbox owners. Inasmuch, the issue should be a very big deal to Microsoft. And it does seem to be.

For Xbox titles to work on the 360, gamers need a hard drive and the ability to log into Xbox Live.

New titles on the list include:
  • 4X4 EVO 2
  • Amped 2
  • Bad Boys 2
  • Big Mutha Truckers
  • Doom 3
  • Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
  • Fatal Frame
  • FlatOut
  • Grabbed by the Ghoulies
  • Intellivision Lives
  • LEGO Star Wars
  • Minority Report
  • MLB SlugFest 20-04
  • RalliSport Challenge
  • Silent Hill 4: The Room
  • Spawn Armageddon
  • Spider-Man
  • Star Wars Battlefront
  • State of Emergency
  • The Punisher
  • Zapper
