James Bond Goes Next-Gen - 16.7.06

007
James Bond fans itching for a little next-gen action won’t have to settle for only getting it in the theaters. It seems Treyarch is in the process of developing a 007 title for next-gen delivery.

According to Game Spot, the Activision-owned company is looking for a gameplay designer for a Bond game.

The company’s web site more than confirms this. “Treyarch is looking for a Gameplay Designer for our upcoming Bond title. … The studio is focusing on developing and hiring for next gen titles.”

As the maker of such titles as Call of Duty 3 and the Ultimate Spider-Man game, Treyarch is more rolling in the action as of late, and the working conditions don’t seem too shabby either. It seems the lucky designer will find him or herself working close to the beach at a company that offers “weekly basketball games, afternoon foosball or working out at the neighboring gym. The studio has Friday morning bagels, stocked kitchens, great benefits.”

If foosball and bagels translate to creativity, this Bond title should be a good one!

The 007 game franchise is one that Activision locked down in May. It snatched up worldwide rights to create games based on the movies for pretty much every gaming console known to man now or in the future.

The James Bond gaming franchise has been strong with multiple titles released over the past few years. The most recent addition to the Bond titles was From Russia With Love last year, which was released by EA before it gave up the franchise.

There’s no news on when the new 007 game might be out, but the latest movie with Daniel Craig is set to arrive in November.

It’s nice to see the Bond character remains timeless. But, I have to admit, no one will ever replace Sean Connery or his voice in my heart.
