Horror genre fanatics and lovers of good scary video games might soon find themselves face to face with a title developed by Mr. Horror himself, Wes Craven.
The creator the original “The Hills Have Eyes,” “Scream,” and “Nightmare on Elm Street” has signed on to develop a video game for a company he’s not willing to name as of yet, according to 1UP.
Craven’s plans were revealed, or more aptly teased, to Dean Takahashi, the author of the book that explains the back-story of Microsoft’s gaming console, “Xbox 360 Uncloaked,” during the recent MI6 gaming conference in San Francisco.
It seems Craven wasn’t willing to divulge too many details about the project other that to say something’s in the works.
This leaves only speculation open as to what Craven might be working on. According to IMDb, he’s working on a thriller called “Bug,” due out in 2007, and is also co-writing a remake of his 1977 “The Hills Have Eyes II” with son Jonathan.
With the success of the of Alexandre Aja’s recent remake of the first “Hills,” it’s possible that mutant hunting will be the focus of the game, but since Craven’s not talking, it’s anyone’s guess. Who knows, it could be a buggy title.
Whatever the case, it’s more than likely a Craven-developed game will be nothing short of neat. Maybe Resident Evil will find itself some competition along with Condemned: Criminal Origins and others in the horror line of video games.
There's some speculation the title might be an educational rather than creepy one, however.
If nothing else, the storyline should be great.
