Call of Duty 3
Do you think you’ve got what it takes to kick butt and take names in Call of Duty 3? If so, Activision, Spike TV and Best Buy want you to sign up for the “Game Head Call of Duty 3: Challenge.”

The boot camp-style competition will mesh gaming and survival in a reality TV special set to air on Spike TV’s “Game Head” Nov. 10 to coincide with the release of the Activision game.

Sixteen “recruits” are being sought for the challenge, which include a combination of gaming skills and actual boot camp events. Applications for the challenge are being accepted online at GameSpot.com.

The winner of the event will get VIP access to Spike’s “Video Games Awards,” a home entertainment system from Best Buy and a trip to Normandy, France.

Applicants are asked to create a five-minute movie that outlines why they should be chosen for the challenge. The 16 contenders will be picked by Activision. Submissions need to be in by 11:59 PDT Sept. 4.

Per the Activision media release, those selected will be flown to a “top secret" military location where they will play on virtual battlefields and take part in the real-life boot camp challenges. Shooting will take place Sept. 20-22.

"The 'Game Head Call of Duty 3: Challenge' combines the in-your-face action that the best-selling video game franchise is known for with the intense physical and mental challenges associated with a military boot camp," said Will Kassoy, senior vice president, global brand management, Activision, Inc. "The result will be a reality TV event that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats."

I’m not a big fan of reality TV, but this sounds like a blast of a competition. Plus, it will prove that gamers can actually get off the couch!
