The Dark Age of Camelot is about to be overrun with minotaurs as the seventh expansion to the popular epic fantasy MMORPG rolls out later this year.
Dubbed Labyrinth of the Minotaur, the expansion, which is under development by EA Mythic, has the ancient race of Minotaur returning to Camelot in search of help from the toughest warriors of the three Realms. It seems the minotaurs’ ancient relics have been unearthed and are corrupting the world and threatening Camelot.
The expansion will include the first new playable race in two years - the minotaur, of course. This incredibly strong race will have the ability to wield two-handed weapons single handedly. The expansion also comes with a new class, the mauler. A brawling class, maulers will have some pretty neat abilities and are a very appropriate introduction along with the minotaur.
"I can't think of any better way to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Dark Age of Camelot than with the release of a new expansion for the players," said Walt Yarbrough, Producer of Dark Age of Camelot, in an EA media release. "This exciting, story-driven content will bring new thrills to an already vibrant and thriving game world. There is no better time to be playing Camelot than right now!"
There’s no word on an official release date yet, but a preorder for $19.99 comes with a special clockwork kitten pet. The pet looks awesome and the pricing for the DAoC expansion is even better considering what some expansions go for.
Checking out DAoC is fairly easy, too. There's a 14-day free trial available on the site. I haven't done this yet, but I have some friends who are big DAoC junkies. I might have to join them soon just to check out the minotaurs when they arrive later this year.
