Red Orchestra
Carrying on its tradition of letting gamers play before they buy, Valve is rolling out a free play five-day special for Red Orchestra. Preloading is available now on Steam.

The free trial begins Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 7. It includes full access to the game, including a new map and even some new game play enhancements from Tripwire. This beats the heck out of some demos that only allow limited access. Plus, trailers available on Steam make the game look incredible. The fighting is more than intense in this first-person combat simulation.

Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 was launched in March. The title allows gamers to choose from 28 different infantry weapons, or they can crew one of 14 different vehicles that would have been used on the Russian Front between 1941-45. The game involves more than a dozen maps that are based on real locations and battles.

The first-person World War II combat simulation is available on Steam from Valve for $24.95. Gamers will need to have a rig with these minimum requirements to play: 1.2 GHZ or equal CPU, 512 MB RAM, a 64 MB DX9 compliant video card, 2 GB of hard drive space free, DX 8.1 compatible audio and Windows 2000/XP.
